Shu Architects is an independent, boutique architecture studio that offers a personal and bespoke service across the South of England. Founded by business partners Geoff Smith and Claire Humphreys in March 2019, they are passionate about low energy buildings including ensuring that listed buildings are upgraded, where possible, to be more efficient.

THE SOLUTION
RS managing director Debbie Boulton reviewed their business plan and made recommendations on how it could be tailored to meet the anticipated needs of the company. Debbie also recommended an independent financial adviser who was experienced in setting up pension schemes for small businesses.
Debbie used RS's flexible charging structure to ensure Shu were able to manage the cost of employing specialist help, and set up regular meetings between Claire and Geoff and RS head of accounts Rachael Rackham, who makes sure they are always on top of their numbers.
They now outsource their payroll to RS.
It was a relief to finally found an accountant who was 'switched on' to what we did and the specific issues we faced as a new business in this area.

- Geoff and Claire realised they could afford to employ more staff and the company has doubled in size as a result.
